Level 1 – Tap/Jazz
Level 1 – Tap/Jazz instructs students ages 6.5-8 in the fundamentals of both Jazz and Tap dancing. During the first half of class students learn how to work facing the mirror. They are introduced to working one area of the body at a time (isolations) and are introduced to turns, leaps and combination steps. The second half of the class focuses on the basics of tap dance- including how to listen and relate to rhythm in both music and dance. See dress code below.

Dress Code
Leotard: light blue
Tights: Light pink with black tap skirt
Shoes: Black tap shoe, Ballet slippers or jazz shoes for Jazz
Hair: pony tail, braids, bun
Optional: Leg warmers, wrap sweater, with the permission of instructor
Form fitting shirt, color of choice, black jazz pants or leggings, socks, black tap shoes, ballet slippers or jazz shoes for jazz
Loose hair, loose fitting sweaters and pants, boxer shorts, pajama pants, distracting jewelry, chewing gum, NO STREET CLOTHES!
